Welcome to the library of Central Baptist Church in Decatur, AL. This WebOPAC replaces our Webrary and we think you will like the new features. Anyone searching this library can compile a mediagraphy and print it out at home. This library is open to the public and you are invited to visit if you live in the area. If you are already a customer of this library, you will be able to view the media you have checked out and to see the due dates. Check with the library to establish a password. MISSION STATEMENT
The church library seeks to undergird the educational program of Central Baptist Church. It strives to be a dynamic resource by providing media and services designed to advance the study of God's Word, stimulate Christian growth, promote missions, and enhance the quality of worship, proclamation, witness, nurture, education and ministry of this church. These media resources and services are provided to meet the needs of members of Central Baptist Church and her organizations and, insofar as possible, to share them with those outside her membership.
SELECTION POLICY
All media should be:
1. Approved by church library ministry team
2. Accurate in facts, scriptural interpretation and doctrine
3. Constructive in influence and morally sound
4. Of high literary or technical quality
5. Include and reflect sound educational methods and should assist in learning
6. Reflect Christian standards of conduct and not promote unChristian atitudes and actions. Lives of authors should be consistent with their teachings
7. Monetary gifts are encouraged. The donor and library ministry team should decide on the specific item(s) to be purchased in accordance with financial policy of the church and its selection policy
8. All other gifts to the library must meet the same standards as purchased items. No provisional gifts will be accepted.
GIFT POLICY
Gifts play an important role in the ministry of the church library. They make possible the purchase of media and other needed service items not provided through the church budget.
1. Monetary gifts may be in the form of memorials. In Honor Of gifts may be given for births, birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, Mother's Day, Father's Day or recognitions of any individuals or groups. Money should be processed through the church financial system.
2. Gifts in the form of media must meet the same standards as stated in the selection policy.
3. No provisional gifts will be accepted.
OPERATION POLICY
1. Library ministry team members are elected by the church
2. Members of Central Baptist Church and their families may check out media according to library procedures. Others may do so upon completion of information sheet.
3. Videocassettes, audiocassettes, CDs and DVDs are limited to a total of three each and may be checked out for one week. These types of media are restricted with few exceptions to home use only and should not be shown in groups.
4. Reservations for audiovisual equipment for use in church should be made through the library.
5. Reservations for table cloths to be used at church must be made through the library. They are to be returned as soon as possible following cleaning instructions.
6. Books are loaned for two weeks with the option to renew unless there is a waiting list. Individuals may check out four books at a time. Leaders and/or departments will be granted longer periods of time.
7. No fines are collected for overdue media, but customers are expected to return media on time. They are also responsible for reimbursement of lost or damaged media.
8. Media library hours are determined by the programs of the church and the needs of its customers. Hours are:
Sunday: 8:30 a.m. - 10:50 a.m.
5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Monday: 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday: 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Wednesday:8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Thursday: 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
